Bus Evacuation Practice Drill

The Children's Center of Cicero-Berwyn, Riverside Drive Site Head Start and Preschool For All classrooms, practiced how to exit a bus if there were ever an emergency.

The children and teachers all did a wonderful job! The teachers discussed safety and the importance of following rules and walking to the safety zone to avoid any accidents.

1. Listen to the driver.

2. Unbuckle your seatbelt

3. Walk to the exit.

4. Walk to a safe zone

According to the Early Childhood Learning & Knowledge Center:

"The most important and essential aspect of a vehicle evacuation drill is for children to learn how to move off the vehicle quickly and in an orderly manner. Give children praise for following the rules. Reinforce safety procedures such as walking to the exit without rushing and pushing."
